Context
Flowers have served as (secret) messages for centuries, but nowadays many of us do not consider the meaning behind them when given or received. This project introduces the art of floriography again by translating symbolic flowers into a set of vibrant and meaningful postcards.
Process + Role
After doing extensive research regarding floriography, I designed a set of nine unique postcards, each featuring a flower that conveys a specific message. The flowers were photographed and digitally edited, combining realism and an artistic and authentic touch, set against colourful backgrounds to help the flowers pop and enhance their symbolism. The postcards come in a foldable box - which opens like a flower - revealing all nine messages inside, including a brief introduction to floriography. The back of each card I kept blank, offering space for a handwritten message, making them perfect keepsakes or decorations.
Result
"Say It With A Flower" is a set of nine unique postcards, each depicting a flower that symbolizes a personal message you can send someone, allowing anyone to send a meaningful message on any occasion. The design combines practicality, education, and personality, reintroducing a timeless tradition in a modern and accessible way. And, compared to real flowers, these will not wilt if you don't water them.
